Dr Marlene Kanga to speak at Diversity in Action Summit

Diversity, Action, IPENZ, Engineering, Wellington

The figures are sobering. In Australia 17% of engineering students are female, but that number declines to just 7% in the workforce, with females representing only 1% of engineers aged over 50. It’s a huge loss to the profession, economy and country – something must be awry in engineering workplace cultures.

Dr Marlene Kanga, President-Elect of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations, will share a practical strategic approach to changing workplace cultures to be more diverse and inclusive at IPENZ’s Diversity in Action Summit on 19 August at Te Papa, Wellington.

Marlene says “we simply need to get the best people on the job, to achieve the best outcomes - it’s the single best way for us to innovate, manage risk and maintain the social license to operate.”
