District Plan Review, Chapter 26: Historic Heritage

The protection of New Zealand’s engineering heritage is important, as a means of preserving heritage items or sites and of educating people. This submission from IPENZ to the Queenstown Lakes District Council responds to the review of their District Plan. The submission sets out our view that the scheduling of heritage places in District Plans is an important mechanism for protecting engineering heritage. We note the Queenstown Lakes District is heritage-rich and we are pleased to see the proposed plan includes much of this industrial and engineering heritage.
