Foundation Trustees


Roly Frost FIPENZ

Roly is a past President of IPENZ and is currently on the Chartered Professional Engineers Council. After holding General Manager positions in both the private and public sectors, he now runs his own practice based in Hamilton. Roly has held governance roles on boards and trusts.


Tiina Hall-Turner FIPENZ

Tiina has a Chemical and Materials engineering background and is a Technical Director of Beca, based in Auckland. Her career has encompassed practice areas including production, technical marketing, contracting and consulting, ranging across oil and gas, and the food and beverage segments.

Tiina strongly believes engineering and its technological applications play a fundamental role in New Zealand’s present and future prosperity. She is currently a member of the IPENZ Standards and Accreditation Board and is a former member of the IPENZ governing Board.

Carol Caldwell FIPENZ

Carol is a practising fire engineer with more than 30 years of experience. She started her career in the United States of America but has been in New Zealand for almost 20 years. She is currently the director of Enlightened Solutions Limited. She is a recognised international expert on performance-based fire engineering design and is a member of several fire engineering-related technical organisations.

Carol was Chair of the IPENZ Canterbury Branch in 1997, and provides Practice Area assessments in fire engineering. She is particularly interested in the role of women in engineering.

Peter Jackson DFIPENZ

Peter is a retired academic who spent most of his working life at Canterbury University and the University of Auckland. He was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Auckland, where he established the Yacht Research Unit, before becoming the first Postgraduate Dean for the University. He was th​en appointed as the inaugural Pro-Vice-Chancellor for the College of Engineering at the University of Canterbury.

Peter has been involved with IPENZ for many years, including a term as President. Since retiring, he has been assisting groups engaged in conservation.

John Boshier FIPENZ

John is Principal of Boshier Consulting working on energy and organisational matters. Previously, he was Executive Director of the National Generators Forum representative body for Australia’s electricity generators, and Chief Executive of Engineers Australia. He has published a number of technical papers on energy policy and engineering.

Before moving to Australia in 1999, John was a general manager in the Electricity Corporation of New Zealand and Chief Executive of Capital Power, Wellington’s electricity retailer. He has also held the roles of Assistant Secretary of Energy in the New Zealand government. John is an active member of the Rotary Club of Wellington.


Currently there is a vacancy for the sixth Trustee. Trustees are appointed by the IPENZ Board.
