IPENZ accredited two-year diplomas in engineering

IPENZ became a full signatory to the Dublin Accord in June 2013. The accord sets an international benchmark and allows those who hold an accredited diploma in the signatory country a greater degree of mobility between signatory countries.

New Zealand Diploma of Engineering (NZDE)

Tertiary Education Organisations and relevant Industry Training Organisations have developed a unified New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (NZDE) with majors in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.

IPENZ-accredited providers of the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (NZDE) are as follows:

New Zealand Diploma in Engineering Practice (NZDEP)

The New Zealand Diploma in Engineering Practice (NZDEP) is a work-based qualification assessed on the job through the Industry Training Organisation best aligned with a trainee's chosen engineering major and industry sector.

The qualification tests the practical application of engineering knowledge and skill in a particular industry sector, and has been benchmarked to the IPENZ competence standard for independent practice as an engineering technician. NZDEP graduates are eligible for registration as a Certified Engineering Technician (CertETn) and Associate Membership of IPENZ without any further assessment.
