Women in Engineering: Snapshot 2013

New Zealand needs more engineers. Since the Canterbury earthquakes, in particular, there hasn’t been the supply of engineering professionals to meet the increased demand. Women make up approximately 13 per cent of New Zealand’s professional engineers. Since 2011, we’ve been working to increase that number and to encourage and support women to enter, remain and advance in the engineering profession. Not only can we improve diversity in the industry, we can also increase the total number of engineers, simply by removing barriers for women. Snapshot 2013 outlines our progress and surveys the status of women at 30 engineering employers.
