Engineering Technologist (ETPract)
The Engineering Technology Practitioner (ETPract) Register is governed under the IPENZ Regulations for Competence Registers (PDF 272KB).
When you apply for Registration you can also apply for Technical Membership of IPENZ (TIPENZ) – the standard for both is the same.
Engineering Technologists also have access to the International Engineering Technologist (IntET(NZ)) Register
What is an Engineering Technologist?
If you’re an Engineering Technologist you’ll:
- Deal with broadly defined engineering problems and activities that require knowledge and of principles and applied procedures
- Have a Sydney Accord-accredited qualification (a three-year Bachelor of Engineering Technology), or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge.
How to become a Registered Engineering Technologist
You need to demonstrate your competence for independent practice against our competence standard for engineering technologists.
You need to pay an annual registration fee and demonstrate you still meet the standard for an Engineering Technologist. You’ll be reassessed at least every six years – your most recent assessment will determine how long until your next one.
IPENZ Members already have access to My IPENZ. If you’re not already a Member, apply to become one or ask for temporary access
