Chris Harland

I’m currently studying towards a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons.) at the University of Canterbury.

I want to be an engineer to follow in the footsteps of my grandfather and because I believe that engineering is the foundation of our society. It increases peoples standard of living, provides infrastructure and I think it is a rewarding profession to be a part of.

As the SENZ rep for my tertiary institution I hope to generate a professional public image of Canterubury's Engineering society (ENSOC) and run events that show students how engineering can be applied to positively impact other areas of society such as politics, business and medicine.

Engaging with IPENZ as an engineering student enables you to network with people in the industry to choose a rewarding career pathway, gain ‘soft skills' and learn about the ever changing world to keep up-to-date with the profession.

In my spare time I go surfing, skiing, kite surfing and enjoy the great outdoors as well as working on refurbishing my caravan!
