Make a Donation or Bequest

The IPENZ Foundation relies on the generosity of members and others who make donations or bequests.

Donations

All donations are greatly appreciated. You can donate online through our Givealittle page. Any donations over $5.00 are tax deductible.

Bequests

A bequest can be made by asking your lawyer to add this into your will when it is drawn up or revised. Everyone has different circumstances, and divides their estate in different ways, so it’s important to ensure the bequest is tailored accordingly.

If you are thinking about making a bequest, please let us know. This communication will be important if your will is challenge.

Generally, there are three kinds of bequest:

  • A donation of a specific amount or a specific asset (for example a parcel of shares).
  • A donation of a specific percentage of the estate.
  • A donation of the residue of the estate (after all other bequests and obligations have been withdrawn). You can also choose to give a percentage of the residue of your estate.

If you have a particular area you wish your bequest to go towards, you can specify this. We suggest you keep this fairly broad if possible, or that you add a contingency clause such as “should this programme no longer be in operation, the bequest may be used as the Trust determines.”

We advise you to speak to your lawyer about the most appropriate kind of bequest for you. Below is suggested wording for each option that can be incorporated in to your will:

Bequest of a specific amount or asset
“I give and bequeath (item-sufficiently described to be individually identified, or) the amount of $... to the IPENZ Foundation, located at 50 Customhouse Quay, Wellington, 6144, Registration Number CC30077.”

Percentage bequest
“I give and bequeath …% of the total value of my estate to the IPENZ Foundation, located at 50 Customhouse Quay, Wellington, 6144, Registration Number CC30077.”

Bequest of residue
“The residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, wherever situated, I give and bequeath to the IPENZ Foundation, located at 50 Customhouse Quay, Wellington, 6144, Registration Number CC30077.”
